Birth registered at Dr. Williams's Library 9 Mar 1825. He and his wife emigrated to Australia, setting sail from Gravesend, Kent, 13 Jun 1842, and arriving in Sydney 4 Nov 1842. For extracts from the diary kept by Edmund during the voyage, see "My Name is Blacket" by the late Nick Vine Hall. A leading Australian architect. In St. Andrew's Cathedral, Sydney is a plaque to Edmund and his wife stating "They were buried in Balmain Cemetery, and on the Cemetery being made into a Public Park their ashes were retinterred here on the Eve of St. Andrews Day 1941".
