A Director of the Bank of England. Awarded C.B. 1915, K.C.B. 1921 and K.C.S.I. 1926. Killed when his car was run over by a train at Treis an der Lumda, Germany. (newspaper report supplied by Horst Jeckel 7 Mar 2013). The Blackett Observatory at Marlborough College, Wilts. is named after him. Probate granted 30 Sep 1935 to Winifred Bardsley Hartnoll widow and Frances Charlotte Isabella Blackett spinster.
