Note

Son of William Blackett de Shipley. Will dated 20 Apr 1718. Will and will bond dated 1718 of Christopher Blackett of Brancepeth held by Durham University. Although no definite proof has been found, he is almost certainly the son of William Blackett and Jayne Taylor, all other Christophers around that time having been eliminated. He was described as "gentleman" at his marriage and Edward Blackett of Bedburn Hall (who would have been his 3rd cousin) was a witness at the baptism of his daughter Ann. He also had financial dealings with Edward, whose fortune was in decline. 3 Jan 1712 "Precept to enter into premises in distraint of debt, Bedburn, Chris. Blackett." At burial Christopher "of Stockley". 6 Sep 1702 Christopher Blackett of Stockly was a witness at baptism of Jane, daughter of Henry Button. 26 Nov 1706 Christopher Blackett of Stockley was a witness at baptism of Thomas, son of Thomas White. 16 Oct 1709 Chritopher Blackett was a witness at baptism of Isabell, daughter of Jo' Emerson. 4 Mar 1715 Christopher Blackett was a witness at baptism of Jo'twin [Jonathan?], son of Jo' Noble. 4 Dec 1716 Christopher Blackett was a witness at baptism of Nicolas, son of Nichlas & Eleanor Pearson.
