Inq. v. off. taken 1 Oct 1627 at Durham states that Thomas Blakeston and John.... had purchased lands and tenements in East Shipley from Christopher Blacket and Hugh his son. 15 Oct 1627 Letters patent, signed by Richard, Bishop of Durham allowing Sir Thomas Blakeston and John Witham to alienate land in East Shipley to Christopher and Hugo Blackett. Sole executor of his father. 11 Apr 1662 "Hughe Blackett of Shipley buryed in ye Church".
