Note
No baptism for her found, but some circumstantial evidence that she was a daughter of Henry's first marriage. In her will her sister Rose Blackett is appointed executrix. This is presumably her half-sister, Rosamond Blackett, who married John Renneson in 1679. Rosamond Reneson (sic) was one of the signatories to an affidavit confirming the burial of Jane's son Christopher in 1680. Marriage bond dated 5 Apr 1664. Inq. p.m. 1678. Will dated 13 Dec 1677, leaving residue (after legacies) to her sons, Christopher and Edward. A dispute arose between them over the Will, which was settled by the arbitration of Sir John Eden on 2 Mar 1696/7. A close friend of Henry Blackett of Bitchburn (1639-1704), the Anabaptist preacher, whom she appointed as one of the guardians of her children. In Feb/March 1676 she entered into a lease, release and mortgage with Roger Dowson of 6 messuages and a cottage at Horton Grange, [near Ponteland, Northumberland]. Six months earlier Roger Dowson had mortgaged 6 messuages at Horton Grange to Thomas Robson of Toft Hill and Henry Blackett of Low Bitchburne. Jane Blackett "of Bedburn Hall" was a party, with William Blackett, merchant of Newcastle upon Tyne, to a lease dated 17 Jul 1677 of land known as the Castles of Castle Steeds. By her will dated 13 Dec 1677 Jane Blackett left Horton Grange to Messrs Robson, Blackett and Readshaw in trust for her children. Her step-son John Blackett, who took over the Wylam estate in 1679 was described as "of Horton Grange, near Ponteland". She appointed her sister Rose [probably her half-sister Rosamon] as executrix. 23 Apr 1692 receipt by Ann Blackett for £300 from Henry Blackett, left to her in the will of her mother Jane. Administratrix of her late husband, Christopher Blackett. 1679 undated inventory of goods of Christopher Blackett unadministered by Jane Blackett, relict and administratrix, now deceased.
Note
Marriage bond dated 5 Apr 1664. Durham Diocese. Christopher Blackett obtained a licence to marry Jane Blacket (one "t"). Sureties Patrick Kelley, Robert Mitford.
