By deed dated 21 Nov 1596 one Christopher Wall in consideration of a sum of money paid to him had granted to the said Peter Blackett and Elizabeth his wife and their heirs the undermentioned land, viz:- Stanhope, lands and tenements in. Referred to in charter 19 Dec 1605 as "of Greneheade, near Stanhope, gentleman", and in quit claim 8 Jul 1615 as "of Greenhead, Stanhope, gentleman." Purchased lands in Stanhope 1618. 20 Dec 1632 pardon from Bishop of Durham for not obtaining licence on purchase of land in Stanhope 21 Nov 1596. Inq.p.m. taken 16 Mar 1632/3 at Durham. John aged 26 is his son and next heir. Inventory of Peter Blacket of parish of Stanhope dated 14 Feb 1633. Administration granted to Elizabeth, widow. Total debts £43 8s 4d. |
