Personal secretary to Ian Fleming during World War II and, assisted Fleming with counter-intelligence operations, including the fictitious identity of a body washed up in Spain, on which the subsequent film "The Man Who Never Was " was based. Believed to be the model for Miss Moneypenny, secretary to "M", James Bond's boss. Appointed Dame of the British Empire in 1991, ten years after her husband's knighthood.
