In conveyance dated 12 Nov 1763 mentioned as having been "of same" i.e. Helmedon Hall, Shipley.

27 Jul 1767 William Blackett, gent., of Helmeden Hall mortgaged and demised (term 1,000 years, consideration £650) to Rev. Henry Bland, D.D. a prebendary of Durham Cathedral the manor of East Shipley with its appurtenances; the farm, village or capital messuage of East or High Shipley with its appurtenances; the capital messuage, mansion house and tenement of West or Low Shipley with their appurtenances; plots in Hamsterley and Witton-le-Wear allotted to William Blackett in respect of his properties of East and West Shipley during the division of moors and commons in Hamsterley chapelry; tithes etc. on the above properties.

In Dent v. Blackett 1772, George Dent of Caldwell, Yorks., gent., cousin of John Nicholson of Newcastle upon Tyne, master mariner, deceased, sued William Blackett, of Helmington Row, Auckland St. Andrew, or of Helmington Hall, cousin once removed, one of the next of kin and administrator of the deceased to produce an inventory of the deceased's goods. In 1777 Ralph Simpson of Cotherstone, Yorks., yeoman, (uncle and next of kin of John Nicholson deceased) sued William Blackett of Shul [sic], Hamsterley (cousin once removed and administrator of the deceased) to revoke and re-grant the Letters of Administration. (Simpson v. Blackett 1777).

Letters of Administration with the Will Annexed dated 9 Nov 1799, (estate above £2,000, below £5,000) granted to Wm. Blackett, natural son of the testator...[executors named...?... having renounced] Legatees: Thomas Blackett a natural son of the testator by Mary Stephenson, John Blackett another natural son by the said M. S., Ann Blackett a natural daughter by the said M. S., Mary Stephenson, Wm Blackett another natural son by the said M.S. Testator by his Will dated 3rd Feb 1796 gives all his real property to [named executors upon trust ]....[and personal property?.... as follows: Son Thomas £1,500& son John £1,500, on attaining 21 or to the survivor if one fails to do so, to daughter Ann £1,000 on attaining 21, or if she shall die before then without issue to Thomas and John. To Mary Stephenson £20 p.a. for life. If all 3 younger children die without attaining a vested interest then to son William. Residue of estate to William.

At burial William Blackett, of Shull, age: 73, Esquire, gentleman, died 21 Sep. (His raised tomb in Hamsterley churchyard shows his dod as 17 Sep 1795.
