Spitfire pilot in World War II. Arrived in Detroit, Michigan 20 Sep 1941 en route to train at Alabama School of Aeronautics, Tuscalmea. Part of fighter escort for Winston Churchill on his way back from the Potsdam Conference 1945, though he had to break off over Holland to escort another plane that developed engine trouble. Retired from RAF as Wing Commander.
