Note

After her mother's remarriage was sent with her half-brother John from Bombay to England Sep/Oct 1728 in the care of Mrs. Hope, wife of Director of East India Company. Arrived in England Jun 1729. Sent to York to stay with William Redshaw (father of her stepfather). Badly treated. Abt 1734 went to stay with her mother's brother, John Courtney, in Beverley, Yorks.
In 1739 took out Bill of Complaint against her stepfather, Thomas Redshaw, trying to claim her inheritance (proceeds of house, jewels, merchandise etc. worth abt £12,000) from her father's estate. Redshaw maintains he left nothing.
Aged 26 at marriage. Proved her father's will in 1759, under which she and her mother were to have equal shares, but on her mother's remarriage only a life interest with remainder to Susanna.
