Note	Son of William Blackett (gentleman) by his wife Frances. Iron forgeman. Manufacturer of spades and shovels. Convicted 1846 of unlawfully killing game at estate of Sir John Henry Lowther at Wilton, north Yorkshire. Placed advertisement in Durham Chronicle 5 Apr 1855 posting a reward for robbery (of which he had been accused). Then working at Crossgate Ironworks, Durham City. On 9 Jun 1857 issued a public notice of separation from his wife, Mary Ann, absoloving himself of any debts incurred by her. (Still then working as a forgeman at Crossgate Ironworks.) Aged 56 at burial. Probate granted 26 Feb 1877 to John Blackett of Shipley, farmer, one of the exors.
